Silvia Moreno-Garcia is an award-winning Mexican-Canadian author known for blending horror, historical fiction, fantasy, and noir with Mexican history and culture. Born in Mexico in 1981, she moved to Canada in 2004 and later earned a master’s degree from the University of British Columbia. She gained international recognition with novels such as Gods of Jade and Shadow, Mexican Gothic, Velvet Was the Night, The Daughter of Doctor Moreau, and Silver Nitrate. Known for moving easily between genres and time periods, Moreno-Garcia has become one of contemporary speculative fiction’s most distinctive voices.
