Chris Whitaker is a British award-winning novelist best known for the bestselling crime novels We Begin at the End and All the Colours of the Dark. Born in London, he worked as a financial trader before becoming a full-time writer, turning to fiction in part as a way of processing the trauma of being stabbed as a teenager. His debut novel, Tall Oaks (2016), won the CWA John Creasey New Blood Dagger, while We Begin at the End later won the CWA Gold Dagger and Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year. His subsequent novel, All the Colours of the Dark, became a major international bestseller and further established him as a prominent contemporary crime and literary fiction author.
