Liann Zhang is an internationally bestselling Chinese Canadian author and former skincare content creator. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in psychology and criminology and splits her time between Vancouver and Toronto with her two cats, Juice and Bean. Her debut novel, Julie Chan Is Dead (2025), is a dark satirical thriller about influencer culture, identity, and obsession; it won the Libby Award for Best Thriller, was longlisted for Canada Reads 2026, and has been translated into more than ten languages. Zhang is a second-generation Chinese Canadian and draws on contemporary internet culture and her experience in the online beauty world in her fiction.
